align with purpose

I spent years proving to others that I was worthy of a position as a school leader. I did what every leader suggested that I do. I received the degree and the license. I stepped up as a leader of teachers in my building. I took the extra trainings that were offered and stayed late designing the best lessons so I would be recognized. I observed great leadership and not so great leadership. All because I was determined to land the next step on my career path.

Then, one day, after what I perceived as positive interview vibes, the position was given to someone who did none of those things. This person did not even have the minimum qualifications. They did not prove that they were worthy of the esteemed position that I so desperately wanted. I spent weeks and months trying to understand what went wrong.

Until I came to the realization that I never needed to prove anything. I am already worthy. I am already sufficiently trained and prepared for the position. I can do it. And I can do it well. That’s not the question.

The question is twofold. First, do I know my own worth? Nobody outside of me can validate my worth. Whether they see me or don’t see me is not important. The question is: do I see me? Do I validate myself? Do I know my own value and worth? Am I worthy simply because I Am? Yes. And so you are you. Because you are alive on planet Earth, you belong to the Earth. You have value and purpose. You are worthy because you are breathing.

The second question is: am I aligned with my purpose for being? Are my goals aligned with my values, aligned with my passion, aligned with my purpose? When I know my purpose, my values, and my passion, I can truly create the life that I am meant to live. We are all meant to create a life aligned with our Highest Self, fulfilling our mission on planet Earth. I can help you with that. Check out my coaching programs for educators, leaders, and anyone ready to unlock their full potential and achieve their highest levels of prosperity and fulfillment.

When we align with purpose, we know our worth and contribute in meaningful ways.

be brilliant

Several years ago I interviewed for a job that I was qualified for and the person that they selected for the position did not meet the minimum posted qualifications. Initially, I felt hurt, disappointed, and confused. I got the degree I needed, the experience I needed, and had passion for the work. The reasons I was told as to why I did not get the job were also puzzling to me. I went into thoughts about what is wrong with me, why am I not good enough, and why does life never work out for me the way that I want it to. This is a common human reaction to rejection.

After receiving some coaching, I changed my mindset from lack and victim and toward prosperity and limitlessness. What if life were unfolding for my highest good? What if there is something better? This or something better. This or something better, was my motto. I didn’t take it personally that the job was not mine.

I let myself be reoriented toward my highest aspirations and inspirations. After all, did I really want to work late nights and weekends too? It turns out that my lifestyle goals were in conflict with my professional goals. I stayed curious, wondering how my experience, education, and passion would be best utilized to serve planet Earth. How can I meet both my lifestyle goals and my professional goals? The Universe is showing me and guiding me. I stay true to my heart, open to life, let go of what isn’t mine, and step into life changing prosperity.

When I vision my life, I see myself deepening into soulful partnerships, both personal and professional. I see myself bringing my gifts into the world to help others find deep fulfillment and life changing prosperity. I see myself enjoying the natural beauty of the Earth and writing about it. What is your vision for your life? I’m here to help you discover your gifts and bring them into the world.

Much love to you on your journey,

This morning when I was walking my Chihuahua named Cinnamon, I felt immense gratitude looking out upon the horizon at the toasted brown field and stunning mountain vista. Feeling this gratitude led to a cascade of opening into my heart. My pain has had a purpose, I thought. It has led me to this moment. This is a moment I would love to savor. This is a moment I would like to continue to be nourished by.

We all have pain. This is part of the human experience. Most of us are not taught how to transform our pain into purpose, yet it is something that is required of us if we are to step into our brilliance. Many of us don’t want to be in the pain. We want to do anything other than sit in the discomfort of what is showing up in our lives. We avoid facing our pain by overworking or isolating. We numb ourselves with substances. We suppress or lash out. We look to others for approval or love.

But there is another way. This way requires our commitment to self-discovery, self-love and healing. Imagine yourself at a crossroads and there are two directions. You are deciding which path to take. Neither path is right or wrong. The path that we choose is simply what we need in that moment. We have a choice of continuing the old way of dealing with our wounds or the new way of being with our pain.

In 2009, I chose to be with my pain and I have chosen it every day since then. When we choose the path of self-love and healing, we will encounter all kinds of new experiences that will require us to look deeply within. We can expect to be pummeled. Life is still showing me, yet I have developed tools that move me through the pain with greater ease and into deeper awareness. I call these tools Brilliance Practices. I teach them in my online community at Be Brilliant Network.

A wise friend said to me, “You are the cause of everything in your life.” To ponder this spiritual truth is humbling. I am the cause of everything in my life. I close my eyes and breathe that in. I am the cause of everything in my life. All the heartache and disappointments have served a purpose. Here I am. Choosing to live in deep trust. Choosing to live in deep gratitude. Choosing to live in deep presence. Choosing to be my most brilliant self in the world. Choosing to serve as a guide for others.

We are all meant to be living our unique brilliance in the world, enjoying and savoring each moment, loving every part of every day. We are meant to wake-up grateful for the gift of this life. We are meant to love our work in the world and create the lives that we desire. We choose to see every tiny moment as a sacred moment, living in reverence for all of life. If we are not living that life, we can choose to transform our pain into purpose and see ourselves unfold as radiant creators of this one magnificent life.

Much love to you on your journey,
